The Anaheim Ducks have announced that center Nick Bonino has re-signed with the club on a one-year, two-way contract. In 35 games played over the past two seasons, Bonino has scored 1 goal and 1 assist with a -3 rating and 10 PIMs.
2010-2011 was Bonino’s first pro season after playing three years at Boston University. In Syracuse last season, he scored 12-30=42 points in 49 games playing as a top 6 forward. However, in the NHL Bonino plays in the bottom 6, somewhat limiting his offensive opportunities. In 26 games in the NHL last season he was unable to record a point. The young center will need to find a way to produce offense in order to move up in the depth charts or else he will be spending more time in Syracuse next season.
