The Anaheim Ducks have announced the signing of newly-acquired center Andrew Cogliano to a three-year contract. Cogliano was recently traded from the Edmonton Oilers as a restricted free agent in exchange for a 2nd round pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
The contract is reportedly worth $7.17 million, for an salary cap hit of $2.39 million per year.
With the first two lines solidified with Ryan Getzlaf and Saku Koivu down the middle, Cogliano looks to be headed for the third-line center spot. With a three-year contract, it appears that GM Bob Murray has taken the first step in creating a more consistent third line.
