Anaheim Ducks LW Jean-Francois Jacques has been suspended for the remainder of the preseason, and an additional 5 regular season games for his actions during Saturday night’s preseason game against the Vancouver Canucks.
Jacques left the bench to fight Vancouver RW Mike Duco at the 16:31 mark of the 3rd period. Jacques was assessed a 5-minute major for fighting, a 2-minute fight instigator minor, and an automatic game misconduct and 1-game suspension for being an instigator within the last five minutes of a game.
The newly-signed left winger had a disciplinary hearing today, which resulted in his suspension. The explanation was that although the player made a legal line change to get on the ice, he did so with no intention other than to engage in a fight with Duco.
Jacques will miss Anaheim’s final two preseason games and the first five regular season games, including the two Premiere Games in Europe on October 7 and 8. Including his automatic 1-game suspension that he has already served, Jacques’ punishment is a total of 8 games.
