The conditioning camp scrimmage gave Ducks management and fans a first look at newly-acquired goalies John Gibson and Iiro Tarkki. Gibson was drafted in the second round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, and Tarkki was signed from Finland towards the end of last season.

Clark, attending his third conditioning camp, took on a leadership role for the group.
Andrew Gordon, RW
On the second day of free agency, the Anaheim Ducks signed free agent RW Andrew Gordon to a two-year contract. In the 2010-2011 NHL season, Gordon scored a goal and an assist for two points in 9 games with the Washington Capitals. More impressively, Gordon scored 28-29=57 points in 50 games with the AHL Hershey Bears. Gordon was appointed to the Eastern Conference AHL All-Star Team for his efforts.
On the first day of free agency, the Anaheim Ducks traded defenseman Andy Sutton to the Edmonton Oilers for defenseman Kurtis Foster.

Hours after Todd Marchant announced his retirement from the NHL, former Ducks captain Paul Kariya stated that he too will hang up the skates for good after 15 seasons in the NHL.
